The Week In Review

I have to send weekly updates at work on a project basis. I'm almost in the habit. Well, I would be if not for the fact that they are due to be emailed on Thursdays and I have 8.5 hours total meetings scheduled on Thursdays.

Jason's Aunt Doyle passed away, so he's out of town. Aunt Doyle was great. We will really miss her humor.

We haven't made much traction on the house. We did get the tree down. And I hired someone to make a run to the landfill with the old drain stack pipe, the old dishwasher, the old water heater, and some other old house debris. Now we can make more debris. I think the replacement windows for the basement would be great to work on, but I'm not the project manager. I'm just the minion!

I am keeping up with the laundry still, and it's such a relief to know that there are school shirts and socks and underwear every morning. I do have a little pile of mending to do and will probably tackle that today.

Speaking of mending, I FINALLY seamed the Baby Surprise Jacket and put on some buttons. It's . . . enormous. It would fit a 3 yr old. Trouble is, I don't know any 3 yr old boys. It's a very boy sort of color scheme. I will get a pic up on flickr today. This is my favorite part of the droid-- I can upload photos without finding some stupid usb cord.

I found a list of the books I read last year and didn't review! Then I lost it again! I did read Jane Eyre, which I'd never read before. I really liked it a lot, but I honestly wonder if Mrs. Rochester wasn't gaslighted by Mister Rochester.

The prototype shawl continues along. I am not sure which way to go with the Real Yarn. I may take the Citron and put different stitch patterns in lieu of the ruched bands. I read about Crazy Lace on ravelry, but cannot find a copy of it anywhere for less than $70. No. Just. . . .No. Apparently it is a way to knit lace without charts or instructions. I am dubious. There is a rav group, but they don't have much to say that is useful-- it's all adoration for the designer. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just need actual information.

As it is the time of year when I often have a little windfall at work, I ordered Vogue Stitchionary 2: Cables,
2-at-a-time Socks, and Sock Yarn One-Skein Wonders. I really want to also get Stephen West's delightful pattern Clockwork. Of course, since I want to make it in Knit Picks City Tweed DK which I do not have in stash, I will have to get medieval on some other stash busting projects in order to buy the yarn. Note-- I have added the knit meter gadget to the sidebar.

A True IM-- where names have been changed

My Workspouse[2:12 PM]:
I just finished clearing out the fridge.
Spice, Mamma [2:12 PM]:

My Workspouse[2:12 PM]:
I found relish that had a best by date of Oct 2007
My Workspouse[2:13 PM]:
A frozen can of beer with a 2006 date on it
My Workspouse[2:13 PM]:
A frozen Pibb with a 2007 date on it.
My Workspouse[2:14 PM]:
The yogert only had month dates one them, but they were behind the Pibb
My Workspouse[2:14 PM]:

My Workspouse[2:14 PM]:

My Workspouse[2:14 PM]:

My Workspouse[2:15 PM]:

Spice, Mamma [2:15 PM]:

Spice, Mamma [2:16 PM]:

Spice, Mamma [2:16 PM]:
2006
My Workspouse[2:16 PM]:
yes it is. I finally got tired of the mess. I asked who it all belonged to. The response I got, "We have a Fridge!?!?!"
Spice, Mamma [2:17 PM]:
so three years?

I can't believe someone could work here for this long and not touch that beer.

Like The Bee

I am busy, busy, busy. Like the Bee. But not that annoying one in the allergy commercial. More Like This One. God, how I love Bessie. She's AWSHUM!!

I should get badges in general hausfrauery, overtime, and knitting dishrags. I've knitted up 3 more of them. I think I learned a lot from my mistakes in these. Well, I also learned that I am really bad at counting. I need to dig up the camera and take pictures. I am almost done with a keyhole scarf as well.

In the realm of books, I am part way into 2 right now and nearing completion on them. Still behind in the challenge. Sigh. Soon though it will be too hot to run around as much and reading should pick back up for a couple months.

Work is work is work is work. The only things I can count on there is overload, training contractors (which I'm not great at).

In other news, I get to drive My Husband's Subaru this week! My car is parked at his shop while he is out of town this week. He figured if one car has to be poised for theft, it should be mine-- it's worth less and has more equity. I sincerely doubt someone is going to steal Desmond the Bratmobile. It's domestic, stick shift, 4 door, with 2 car seats in it.

Misery

Misery loves company, or peanut butter. At work, I have no company. And now peanut butter could kill you. My team of 5 was cut to 2 people. The other survivor sits on the other side of a 'wall'. And by wall I mean, fabric, hollow core, less than 6 ft high, but taller than I am, beige or maybe gray. Who can tell?

Every week I have the honor of logging my time in 15 minute increments. I decided to log as Department Administration what was "Time Crying In Bathroom".

One of my coworkers didn't answer the email I sent him and it makes me sad. I know! WHINER. I am complaining about my feeeeeeeeeeeeeelings and he doesn't have a job. Still I am a pack animal and I have no pack. I am not really a lone wolf type. My other former coworker is the kind of guy who knows God Has A Plan. Hey good for him, but I believe in Free Will and that sometimes The Plan Sucks. (I believe those with the faith of a child call it Being Tested.) So the Faithful One has called and I think he is out there knocking on doors. He is an excellent networker and not afraid to ask for help from his extended support circle when warranted.

A number of other great people not on my team were let go. I can't help but wondering if I am the new cabin boy on the Ship of Fools.

The other survivors are kind of babying me, which is sweet. I didn't expect that of the geeks.

In other Misery News, I fell on the ice whilst walking Barkimedes and quite likely have whiplash. Just enough pain not to be killed by ibuprofen, not enough for vicodin at work. I am trying to resist the urge to go back and yell at the homeowner, but I should probably leave them a note, because if it had been a postal worker or a little old lady who fell, they'd be in for a world of legal pain.

It's hard to concentrate on books. I have picked up and discarded several, which is not like me. So I've been working on reading a book comprised of the letters between HL Mencken and his wife, Sara.

I'm also knitting something really adorable! But it's not done yet! I learned short rows! They weren't that hard!

Actually, I learned them last night after taking vicodin for my neck pain. So I learned them a teensy bit altered.

My first Finished Object of the Year is a Trifold Mobius. It is crocheted of varigated pink chenille, so clearly not for me. I was pleased with the gauge of it. The Yarn Snobs hate chenille, and accuse it of all sorts of treachery during the knitting process, but I didn't find it difficult to work with other than being too attractive to the animals. My presentation for photos could use some work. . . . but I finally learned how to get pictures off of my camera with Vista. Also not too hard, just one of those things that The Spouse usually does.

Speaking of animals. . .the Kids Are Alright. And We Don't Need No Education.
